China's National Bureau of Statistics says the total retail sales of consumer goods in January and February 2008 reached RMB1.74 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 20.2 percent.
In terms of different regions, the retail sales of consumer goods in urban areas was RMB1.18 trillion, an increase of 20.8 percent over the same period of the previous year; that of retail sales at and below the county level achieved RMB559.1 billion, up by 18.9 percent.
In terms of different industries, the retail sales of wholesale and retail trades was RMB1.46 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent; that of lodging and catering services was RMB253.6 billion, up by 23.1 percent; that of other industries was RMB25.8 billion, up by 4.5 percent.
