According to Eric Legros, president and CEO of Carrefour China, all the 14 Carrefour stores in Shanghai have completed their energy saving transformation.
After the transformation, 15% energy can be saved in the old Carrefour stores and 20% can be saved in the new ones. The average electric energy saved in each store is about 100,000 kilowatt hours per month.
A representative from Shanghai Economic Committee says that Carrefour is the first large chain store that completes its energy saving transformation in Shanghai. About 450 large commercial facilities with areas of more than 5,000 square meters have been reportedly under energy saving transformation in Shanghai, including department stores, supermarkets, shopping malls and appliances stores. All the transformation work is expected to finish by 2010 and the energy consumed by those facilities will approximately decrease by 15% compared with 2007.
