Pepsico Inc. has announced that it will build a new Chinese food manufacturing base in the Wuhan Food Industrial Processing Zone, Hubei.
Pepsico's new manufacturing base in Wuhan will cover an area of 100 mu, and about a 25,000-square-meter plant will be built in the base. Products produced in this base will meet the demands in central, western and southern markets of China. After the Wuhan base being put into production, it will achieve annual sales of over CNY100 million, and will offer almost 1,000 jobs to the local areas.
Pepsico said that the Wuhan food plant is the company's sixth food manufacturing enterprises in Greater China. It is a realization of Pepsico's promise announced in 2010, saying that the company will invest additional USD2.5 billion in the Chinese market in the following three years. The new base is also Pepsico's first food plant in the central area of China.
Since its entry into the Chinese market in 1981, Pepsico has established 30 plants and seven farms in China.
