Wang Hanhua, president and CEO for Amazon China, will depart the company, and Amazon China will find a replacement as soon as possible.
According to Amazon China, the company's vice president will temporarily be in charge until they choose the new CEO. Amazon China said that Wang plans to move onto other personal pursuits. Wang worked for Amazon China for nearly eight years.
Prior to this, Wang disclosed his departure to Chinese local media. He said he would do something he liked, but will not leave the Internet industry. Wang also said Amazon China's performance has been growing rapidly and the company is ranked in the top three among e-commerce websites in China, which makes him very proud. He hopes his replacement can be someone who truly understands the Chinese e-commerce market.
Wang joined Amazon China, which was then called Joyo Amazon, in April 2005. At that time, the company's annual sales were about CNY100 million. Under Wang's leadership, Amazon China's annual sales have been over CNY10 billion.
