500 Mobile Supermarkets Enter Earthquake Areas

The Ministry of Commerce has donated 500 trucks to Sichuan Province to set up mobile supermarkets in the disaster areas.

After receiving the trucks, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce immediately dispatched them to the Bureaus of Commerce of six earthquake affected cities, including Chengdu, Deyang, Mianyang, Guangyuan, Ya'an, and Aba. The Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce also signed a letter of responsibility with the six bureaus, which requested that all the trucks to be used as goods sales vehicles in the disaster areas.

The first batch of 50 trucks has been sent to 15 business enterprises and these trucks were loaded with goods that are urgently needed in the disaster areas. The 500 trucks will cover fifteen areas that were seriously affected in the earthquake, including Dujiangyan, Pengzhou, Mianzhu, Shifang, Beichuan, Pingwu, Wenchuan, Lixian, and Heishui. Each enterprise will be responsible for one area.

The goods in these movable supermarkets are required to be sold at cost price, which is reportedly 10% to 15% lower than the market price.
