The European sports supplies retailer Decathlon has announced that it will further promote its development in China and plans to open up to ten new stores in the country in 2010.
Decathlon announced the news during the opening of its first store in Changchun, Jilin province, and the new store in also the company's 24th outlet in China.
Meng Dong, president for Decathlon Greater China, told local media that the company previously opened two new stores in Dalian and Beijing, respectively, this year and it also completed the renovation of its Huamu store in Shanghai, making it the company's first flagship store in China.
Prior to the opening of the new store in Changchun, Decathlon has launched 23 chain stores in 12 Chinese cities and the number of its outlets in China is expected to reach 30 before the end of this year.
Moreover, Decathlon is actively expanding new projects in China and it has signed contracts in Guangzhou, Chengdu, Ningbo, and Jiaxing to develop new leasing and self-built projects.
