Suning Supermarket Company, a direct subsidiary under Suning Commerce Group, announced its entry into the online Chinese fresh food market.
According to a representative from Suning, their products will adopt direct overseas procurement and cold chain distribution during the entire process.
The company will first implement trial operation in Shanghai and Hangzhou and their products cover all fresh goods categories available in offline supermarkets, including vegetables, fruits, seafood, eggs, and meat. At the same time, relying on its cold warehouse in Shanghai, the company will use cold chain distribution in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
The representative revealed that at present the Shanghai cold warehouse has 50,000 units in stock, its average daily distribution is 2,500 units, and its daily distribution is 5,000 units at peak time, which can fully meet the demands in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
In the future, Suning supermarket company plans to expand its fresh food business into other major cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Chengdu.
Does it mean the main market of Sunning is overheated but fresh food stuff market is just getting hot?
